The short version

Check This Out exists so friends can share recommendations. We collect only what the app needs to work, we don't show ads, we don't sell your data, and you can delete your account and everything in it at any time, right from the app.

What we collect

• Account info: your email address, username, display name, and optional profile photo.
• Content you create: recommendations you send (title, note, link, category), your friendships, and which recommendations you mark as checked out.
• Safety records: blocks and reports you file.

We don't collect your location, contacts, browsing history, or anything from other apps, and we don't use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

Who can see what

• Recommendations you send are visible to you and the friend you sent them to.
• Your check-out activity is visible to accepted friends only if you leave "Share activity with friends" on. You can turn it off in Profile > Privacy.
• Your username, display name, and photo are visible to other signed-in users in friend search unless you turn off "Show me in search."
• Nothing is ever publicly visible without an account.

Where your data lives

Data is stored with Supabase (Postgres) with row-level security, so each account can only reach data it's entitled to. We keep your data only as long as you have an account.

Deleting your data

Profile > Delete account permanently removes your account, recommendations, friendships, activity history, photos, and everything else, immediately and irreversibly. No email required, no waiting period.
